I’m Back

1 Oct

Thanks first of all to the Lord and then to Rehab and Home Health.

I had quadruple bypass surgery July 30.  I have had no previous heart attack and the heart is not damaged in any way but after one instance of chest pain, shortness of breath and a tight chest I had an angiogram done which indicated 6 blockages none of which were severe but one blockages covered three minor arteries to the heart requiring heart surgery.

The surgery went perfect.  That was Monday, but on Tuesday my lungs completely failed and I had to be put back on the breathing machine for six more days.  During this time my kidneys began to fail.  But on Friday August 10 I was transferred to AMG Rehab at Lourdes Hospital for a planned stay of 4 – 5 weeks.

Those that know me know I don’t quit.  When I got to Rehab I could not take 2 steps unassisted and had lost 41 pounds.  Two weeks later I walked out going home.  God had done His best I knew I had to do my best.  Home Health was just as amazing as Rehab.  During the next 5 weeks I was challenged and worn out but thanks to the Lord’s blessing I am back at work ready to serve Him.  God has been Good.

He provided me with the best hospital, the best cardiologist, the best surgeon, the best rehab and as far as I’m concerned the best home health.  Had it not been for the Lord giving me the best there was to humanly receive I’m sure I would not have made it.  I went into surgery believing that the Lord would restore me 100%.  I still believe this.  I’m not there yet but I’m working toward it.

I have learned the secret to life.  It’s not mine; it’s His.  Job 12:9-10 says, “Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this, in whose hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”  A man, perhaps several have held my heart in their hands but I have learned that God has always held my heart in His hand.  That will change your perspective on life.
